T20 World Cup: Australia’s newly appointed T20 cricket team captain, Mitch Marsh, recently unveiled his squad, but there remained some unknowns within his team.

This also included the absence from selection of Jake Fraser-McGurk. In this practice match, the absence of Fraser-McGurk and former captain Steve Smith shocked everyone.
Fraser-McGurk has recently performed brilliantly for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has led to questions being raised over his selection. In this IPL season, he hit three half-centuries and scored more than 60 runs with a strike rate of 233.33.
More than half of Fraser-McGurk’s 259 runs in the tournament have come from sixes, with the 22-year-old hitting sixes for Delhi on 23 occasions across six innings and finishing sixth in terms of the most number of sixes at the event.
His brilliant batting has left many wondering why he was left out of selection for the T20 World Cup.
Marsh commented on the controversy, saying:
“I think you know the way he is playing in the IPL, he has taken it by storm, they are all loving him and of course, the Delhi team is enjoying his company and that team “I am enjoying what he has brought to the table and there is no doubt that he is.”
“But we feel our team has all the bases covered. Headey and David Warner have been fantastic for us, not just over a long period of time but in the last 18 months in the build-up to this (T20) World Cup.
“We are really comfortable that we have got the right 15, hopefully we will progress into the (T20) World Cup.”
