IPL 2024: Amidst the selection of the new captain of the Indian cricket team and the questions revolving around it, former KKR director Joy Bhattacharya has supported fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah instead of Rohit Sharma.
This statement is causing both greetings and controversies among many cricket lovers.

Actually, Rohit Sharma has served as the captain of Team India since February 2022 and under his captaincy the team has won various championships. But, according to Joy Bhattacharya, questions arise on Rohit’s option.
In an interview with cricbuzz, Bhattacharya said:
“Rohit Sharma has achieved everything in cricket, but there is one thing he has to do: win the World Cup. He won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and he wants to end his career on a high note. We book it -Anding says, “This is a great idea.”
He further said, “I respect Rohit Sharma a lot and I think he is an amazing cricketer. However, he is out of batting form at the moment. Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are in better form and are in good form for the opening position. There are strong contenders for this.”
However, since Sharma is the captain, he will open, which means one of the in-form players will have to bat lower down the order,”
Among cricket lovers, there is both praise and criticism on this controversial issue. While on one hand there is hope regarding the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, on the other hand Bumrah’s supporters are also supporting his idea.
In this context, Bhattacharya said, “I will choose Jasprit Bumrah instead of Rohit Sharma as captain because Bumrah’s skill as a bowler makes him an important member of the team.”
Finally Bhattacharya concluded, “Rohit has achieved everything in cricket, but there is one thing he needs to do: win the World Cup. He won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and he wants to finish his career on a high note. Wants to end. It’s a great idea, we call it.
