IPL News: A new controversy has come to light in the world of IPL, where the incident of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka publicly scolding captain KL Rahul is in the headlines.

The incident happened when LSG lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 wickets in the Indian Premier League. This defeat was a deep blow not only to the team but also to its fans.
The Hyderabad team, led by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, achieved the target of 166 runs given by Lucknow in just 9.4 overs, which is a great achievement. In an attempt to recover from the impact of this defeat, a message was released on LSG’s social media handles in which they appealed to the fans to continue supporting the team.
In this entire episode, the incident of KL Rahul being scolded by his boss has sparked controversy not only within the team but also in the outside world. On social media, fans and critics called Goenka’s action against the spirit of the game and called it unprofessional. Various users called it harmful to the dignity of the player and condemned this behavior of Goenka.
Clarifying on this issue, LSG wrote on X:
“We are all hurt by that game. 💔 But we are so grateful for every blue flag in Uppal and every social media post or comment in support of us despite this loss.”
It added, “This team has shown resilience over the past two years, and we will show it again. Thank you for being with us, LSG Brigade (sic).”
Uncertainty regarding the future of the team has also increased. According to sources, LSG is considering that they may drop KL Rahul from the team for the remaining two matches and may not even keep him in the upcoming tournaments. Rahul was bought for a record ₹17 crore in the 2022 auction, which shows his performance and potential.
There is a possibility of change in the team after this controversy. If KL Rahul steps down from the post of captain, then vice-captain Nicholas Pooran may be given the command for the remaining two matches.
