IPL 2024’s 59th match, an important match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, in this match Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first.

1st Inning, GT vs CSK: Set Target by GT
In an exciting match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Gujarat Titans have set a huge target of 231 runs in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings. From Gujarat side, Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudharshan played excellent innings of 104 and 103 runs respectively.
In this match, Gujarat Titans captain Shubhman Gill won the toss and decided to bat first and this decision proved to be right. Gill and Sai Sudharshan made a wonderful partnership of 209 runs for the first wicket. Sudharshan scored 103 runs in just 51 balls, which included 5 fours and 7 sixes, while Gill played a brilliant inning of 104 runs in 55 balls, which included 9 fours and 6 sixes.
The pair of Gill and Sudharshan bowled Chennai bowlers a lot. Although Chennai bowler Tushar Deshpande was successful in dismissing both the batsmen, he also gave away a lot of runs. David Miller played a quick knock of 16 runs in the final overs, helping Gujarat Titans score 231 runs at the loss of three wickets.
This target is very big for Chennai Super Kings and if their batsmen have to win this match, they will have to show aggressive play from the beginning. The bowlers of Gujarat Titans will also be ready to show the edge of their bowling.
GT vs CSK: Gujarat Titans give tough challenge to Chennai Super Kings
In another exciting match of IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans (GT) registered a resounding win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In this high-scoring match, GT batted first and scored a huge score of 231-3, in response to which CSK could only score 196-8.
The batting from Gujarat had a fast start and the scoreboard was increased rapidly by hitting fours and sixes from the initial overs. On the other hand, CSK bowlers suffered a huge setback in the initial overs itself.
CSK had a disappointing start to the innings where their top order batsmen like Ajinkya Rahane (1), Rachin Ravindra (1), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) were out early. This weakened the foundation of the team and increased the pressure.
However, Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali played brilliant innings in the middle order. Mitchell played a stormy inning of 63 runs which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. Moeen Ali also scored 56 runs, which raised hopes of victory for some time.
Gujarat’s Mohit Sharma excelled in bowling, taking 3 wickets and preventing CSK batsmen from building big partnerships. Rashid Khan also took two important wickets with his spin.
In the end, MS Dhoni played a short but explosive innings and fought till the end by scoring 26 not out, but could not lead the team to victory.
With this win, Gujarat Titans have not only strengthened their position in the points table but have also sent a message to other teams that they are serious rivals this season. CSK will have to learn from their mistakes and bounce back for the upcoming matches.
GT vs CSK: Statement
Gill, GT captain and POTM: Yeah just a cramp, nothing else (reason for being off the field). When you’ve got 100k people supporting you, becomes easier.
Just the freeness of it. When we were batting out there, we didn’t have any targets in mind. Were just maximising the opportunities in front of us. We have a good camaraderie between us.
Even last year we batted a lot together. Lot of fun batting with him. In terms of numbers, definitely it is (best opening partnership for GT). Mohit bhai has done this for us the last couple of years. Even last year, his bowling was a revelation. Even this year, two three bad games can happen to anyone.
At one point we thought 250 was there for the taking. In the last 2-3 overs they bowled well also. Just had a feeling we were 10-15 short – not in terms of the match but in terms of the NRR going forward.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: Our fielding let us down, we gave away 10-15 runs extra I think, execution wise we were good, but they played some really good shots. You can’t control batters when they playing so well and going good. It’s real quick, we got to fly quick and we have a tough game in Chennai, so we got to turn up well there as well.
