Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya has expressed enthusiasm about his former team’s chances of winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) title this year. RCB will take on Rajasthan Royals, who qualified for the playoffs as the fourth-placed team, in the IPL 2024 eliminator on Wednesday.
Vijay Mallya recalls the days before the first season of IPL when he bid to buy RCB. He revealed that buying RCB and star batsman Virat Kohli was his best decision.
Taking to social media platform Twitter, Mallya said his “gut feeling” tells him that RCB has the best chance of winning the IPL trophy this year.

He wrote in his tweet, “When I bid for the RCB franchise and I bid for Virat, my inner instinct told me that I could not have made better choices. My inner instinct tells me that RCB have the best chance to go for the IPL Trophy. Best of luck,” Mallya posted on X.
RCB sealed their place in the IPL 2024 playoffs with a thrilling win over Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. It was a huge achievement for RCB, who won six consecutive matches to cement their place in the top 4.
Mallya had earlier also congratulated RCB for reaching the playoffs. He posted on X (formerly known as Twitter),
“Hearty congratulations to RCB for qualifying in the top four and reaching the IPL playoffs. Great determination and skill has generated winning momentum after a disappointing start. Onwards and upwards towards the trophy.”
In their do-or-die match against CSK, captain Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green took RCB to a score above 200. After this, Yash Dayal gave a disciplined performance of fast bowling and led the team to victory. Faf dedicated his Man of the Match award to Yash Dayal.
This year’s performance of RCB has awakened new hopes in the hearts of the team’s supporters. Entering the playoffs with six consecutive wins is a fantastic achievement and the team’s confidence is at an all-time high. RCB fans are eagerly waiting to see if their team will be successful in winning their first IPL trophy this time.
