IPL News: After the twelfth season of IPL (Indian Premier League) started with great fanfare, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and other teams faced off against Haryana Kings. However, the Punjab Kings team has been struggling continuously for the past few seasons, and one of the main reasons for this is being said to be inconsistency in their leadership.
Punjab Kings’ first head coach Tom Moody recently became the center of discussion when he gave his opinion about the team’s struggles.
Moody said, “I think it’s a good indicator of why he’s struggled. He’s had a lot of changes in terms of leadership, whether it’s on the field or off the field.”
It is noteworthy here that Punjab Kings have appointed 15 different captains in 17 seasons of IPL, which raises questions about their regularity. Moody said, based on his experience, “Inconsistency is inherently inherent in everything that happens on the field, both on and off the field.”
Tom Moody was the coach during Punjab’s first trip to the playoffs in 2008, where they lost in the semi-finals against Chennai Super Kings. He then went on to be at the helm for Sunrisers Hyderabad for 7 consecutive seasons from 2013 to 2019, in what can only be considered a very successful stint which included five playoff appearances and the title in 2016.
The coach further praised the youngsters who have made a name for themselves in the IPL, saying that “the future is very bright”. Moody further explained how impressed he is with youngsters Ryan Parag and Abhishek Porel in the current edition of the IPL.
“The future is very bright, IPL always gives a chance to many domestic players to showcase their talent. We have seen many players progressing as the season goes on and a good example of this is Riyan Parag in Rajasthan. He has been in the IPL several times ” Over the years, he is still a young player but this year has been a breakout season for him and has put his name on the radar as a potential Indian player of the future.
“Another example of this is (Abhishek) Porel of Delhi Capitals, he has had a really good season. It’s great to get a platform like this where not only Indian players but foreign players can also showcase their skills.” The best T20 tournament in the world,” he signed off.
This makes it clear that the struggle of IPL not only leads to the development of players but also requires stability in the leadership of the team. This season could be an important step towards a new beginning for Punjab Kings, in which they may get an opportunity to strengthen their leadership.
