Best bowling figures in IPL history by Indian bowlers (till 2024)
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has not only provided a platform to young talent, but it has also given rise to many records. In the field of bowling, Indian bowlers have demonstrated their talent and ability many times.
Today we will take a look at some such great performances that have been recorded in the IPL till 2024.
1. 5/10 Sandeep Sharma (RR) – 2024
In the 2024 season, Sandeep Sharma while playing for Rajasthan Royals bowled a unique bowling spell against Mumbai Indians in Jaipur. He took 5 wickets for just 10 runs. Sandeep’s swing bowling completely baffled the Mumbai batsmen and he led his team to a memorable victory.
2. 5/5 Akash Madhwal (MI) – 2023
Akash Madhwal, who was playing for Mumbai Indians at the time, bowled incredible bowling against Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai in 2023, taking 5 wickets for just 5 runs. His performance is considered one of the best in the history of IPL.
3. 5/10 Mohit Sharma (GT) – 2023
Mohit Sharma, who was playing for Gujarat Titans, bowled excellently against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad in the 2023 season. He also took 5 wickets for 10 runs. His yorkers and slower balls were the main features of that match.
4. 5/10 Jasprit Bumrah (MI) – 2022
Jasprit Bumrah, known for his lethal yorkers, took 5 wickets for 10 runs while playing for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders in Navi Mumbai in 2022. His bowling completely devastated KKR’s batting lineup.
5. 6/12 Alzarri Joseph (MI) – 2019
While playing for Mumbai Indians in 2019, Alzarri Joseph took 6 wickets for just 12 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This performance is one of the best bowling figures recorded not only by an Indian bowler but by any bowler in the history of the IPL.
6. 5/19 Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH) – 2017
In 2017, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 5 wickets for 19 runs against Punjab Kings. This bowling performance of his is one of the highest scores of his career.
7. 5/25 Jaydev Unadkat (RR) – 2013
In 2013, Jaydev Unadkat took 5 wickets for 25 runs against Delhi Capitals. His bowling played an important role in restricting the opposition team to a low score in that match.
8. 5/12 Ishant Sharma (Deccan Chargers) – 2011
In 2011, Ishant Sharma took 5 wickets for 12 runs against Kochi Tuskers Kerala. This bowling of his is one of the best performances of his career.
9. 5/5 Anil Kumble (RCB) – 2009
In 2009, Anil Kumble took 5 wickets for just 5 runs against Rajasthan Royals. His excellent bowling is a great example of taking wickets at very low scores in IPL.
10. 5/24 Lakshmipathy Balaji (CSK) – 2008
In 2008, Lakshmipathy Balaji took 5 for 24 against Kings XI Punjab. This performance not only brought him into the limelight but also played a vital role in Chennai’s victory.
