In the final week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 league stage, five teams are competing for a place in the playoffs, and the excitement is at its peak. One of the main rivals, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will play Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday, May 16, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

SRH and GT have already faced each other once this season, in which GT defeated SRH by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the SRH team is full of confidence this time, especially their opening batsmen are in excellent form. In the previous match, SRH registered a resounding win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by achieving the target of 166 runs in just 9.4 overs.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans’ performance this season has been up and down. The team led by captain Shubman Gill has found it difficult to maintain consistency in both its batting and bowling. Last season’s runner-up GT is out of the race for the playoffs this time.
After a defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last match, they are stuck on 11 points with only five wins from 13 matches and are placed eighth on the points table. GT will aim to end their season with a win in this match.
Talking about SRH, they are at the fourth position in the points table with seven wins and 14 points from 12 matches. They need just one more win to seal their place in the playoffs. If they win both their remaining matches, they will still have a chance of finishing in the top two and directly entering the finals.

Out of the four matches between the two teams so far, GT has defeated SRH three times. GT has won consecutively in the last three encounters against SRH, including a seven-wicket win earlier this season. There is no injury problem in the SRH camp and all the players are available for selection. At the same time, GT’s wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha was injured in the last game and he is likely to play in this match.
The Hyderabad pitch has been favorable for the batsmen and out of the five matches played here this season, the teams batting first have won three times. The average score of the first innings has been 202 and the highest target chased has been 166.
As per the match prediction, SRH has the home ground advantage and as per Google’s win predictor, they have a 60% chance of winning. Overall, SRH team will try its best to win this match and ensure its place in the playoffs.
