Kolkata Knight Riders have their former captain Gautam Gambhir as a player who during his tenure as captain from 2011 to 2017, KKR led the team to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 and performed brilliantly in many big matches.
Recently he gave a statement expressing “regret” over a mistake made during his captaincy.
Regarding which, Gambhir openly admitted that he did not utilize Suryakumar Yadav properly during his leadership. Gambhir said, “If I have any regret, it is that I did not utilize Suryakumar Yadav’s abilities properly.”
Gambhir expressed this through a long post on social media, in which he appreciated Yadav’s important role in the cricket world.
“He was also a team man,” he said. Anyone can be a good player, but being a team man is a tough job. Whether you played him at No. 6 or 7 or kept him on the bench, he was always smiling and always ready to perform for the team. That’s why we appointed him vice-captain,”
Suryakumar Yadav had given excellent performance to the team in many matches during his leadership. His batting had led the team to victory in many matches, leading to huge expectations from him as the next leader of the team.
Gambhir said in his statement that Yadav had performed well at both the No. 3 and No. 7 positions. “He was as good at No. 3 as he was at No. 7,” he said. It is clear from this that Yadav played an important role for the team at every position.
He accepted it from Kolkata Knight Riders and was appointed the vice-captain of the team. This makes it clear that Yadav is now one of the most important members of the team.
