Sanju Samson, who was playing on 86 during the match, played a high shot off Mukesh Kumar. But he was dismissed when Shai Hope caught his ball at long-on. However, he was very close to the boundary and replays showed that there was a possibility that he had touched the boundary.
The third umpire ruled in DC’s favor resulting in Samson getting involved in a heated argument with the on-field umpires over the matter.
Assistant coach Praveen Amre spoke on the matter and said,
“Some moments are very important in the IPL, and this was the defining moment in the game. Sanju was batting very well. The way Hope took that catch, we have to give credit to him.” The umpire is there, and there is a lot of technology. We felt from the dugout that he (touched the boundary) but it happens in the game, and the umpire’s decision is the final decision.”
Delhi Capitals had a strong performance in their game and achieved a crucial win over RR. With this win, they keep their IPL 2024 playoff dreams intact.
Team captain Rishabh Pant said after the match, “The way our bowlers performed at the last end was the main positive and it was really good to see. We will try to learn from every game. Even when “Whether we win or lose, we will still keep our heads down and keep moving forward.”
He then added, “Kuldeep always gave a performance which was great to watch. It was close to a tie and at the same time we were thinking that if we can restrict him to 200 then it would be fair and that was the thought process.”
After this incident, fans and cricket lovers got to experience another exciting day after witnessing a scene of excellence and dedication in IPL 2024.
