Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and main batsman Virat Kohli along with bowler Bumrah are likely to get leave for the overseas tour to prepare for the next matches.

This decision has been taken for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in the month of August. On this occasion, the new leadership of the team is also being talked about, which includes the names of both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
Rohit Sharma has told BCCI about his request for rest, he is tired due to his playing performances for the last few months. He has also played well in the recently concluded T20 World Cup after South Africa, England, and IPL.
A BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity,
“Both are natural choices in the ODI team and three 50-over matches against England before the Champions Trophy are enough for them to practice. Both of them will give priority to Test matches in the next few months and India will play 10 Test matches between September and January.”
Apart from this, the Indian team is also scheduled to play 10 Test matches between September and January. During this time, the team will play Test series with Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Another source said that Hardik Pandya is the most likely option for the team in case of Rohit’s absence, but KL Rahul, who led the ODI team in South Africa, cannot be ruled out either.
The source said, “The Champions Trophy will be held in mid-February and he does not need to go for the week-long three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka. If he wants that, he is welcome, but I think he would like rest.”
According to the selectors, senior players are also motivated to manage their workload properly. With the selection and preparation for the upcoming matches playing a special role in the next few weeks, a decision will be taken on who will be given the reins of the team.
