In the 23rd contest of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious by defeating Punjab Kings by a very small margin of 2 runs. In the first innings, Hyderabad made a total of 182/9 and while chasing the given total PBKS scored 180 runs and lost the contest.
Nitish Kumar Reddy’s crucial Knock of 64 runs
Nitish Kumar Reddy played a wonderful knock of 64 runs in just 37 deliveries with a strike rate of 172.97 including 4 fours and 5 sixes. SRH lost their first wicket at the score of just 27 runs in 3.2 overs and in the same over Markram was also returned to the pavilion without the addition of even a single run.
Abdul Samad contributed 25 runs for the side in just 12 deliveries with the help of 5 boundaries while Shahbaz Ahmad also made 14 runs in 7 deliveries to help the side reach a total of 182/9 at the end of 20 overs.
Arshdeep Singh Picked up 4 wickets
From the bowling department of the Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh came up with an impressive performance and took 4 wickets by giving 29 runs in 4 overs with an economy rate of 7.25. Sam Curran and Harshal Patel also picked up 2-2 wickets at the expense of 41 and 30 runs respectively. Kagiso Rabada also took 1 wicket by giving 32 runs in 4 overs at an economy rate of 8.00.
Punjab Kings lose quick wickets in the beginning
While chasing a competitive total of 182 runs, Punjab Kings lost the wicket of Jonny Bairstow at the score of just 2 runs on the fourth delivery of the second over. Prabhsimran Singh also returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs in the 3rd over. Shikhar Dhawan tried rebuilding the innings but scored only 14 runs in 16 deliveries before getting stumped at the hands of Heinrich Klaasen against Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in the 5th over of the innings.
Shashank Singh and Ashutosh kept the hopes of Punjab Kings alive till the end also they hit 3 sixes in the last over but could not led the side to the victory.
