A turning point has come for the Indian cricket team when they came to know that Virat Kohli will not be available for the practice match against Bangladesh on June 01.
Actually Kohli had asked for an extended break from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the defeat in the eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals. For this reason, he could not accompany the first batch of players for the showpiece events in the USA and West Indies.
Both Indian cricket fans and players are expecting excellent performances in this World Cup. However, the absence of Virat Kohli may be a challenge, but the confidence and preparation of other members of the team should be enough to face this challenge. The role of players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya will be important.
Virat Kohli’s importance to the Indian team is priceless. His experience and playing skills always provide an inspiration to the team. However, his absence may force the team to change its strategy and structure. The captain and coach have to ensure that there is no negative impact on the morale and performance of the team.
According to Indian Express report,
Kohli informed BCCI late about his plans to join the team and even delayed his visa appointment. It is estimated that this charismatic batsman will leave for New York on 30th May, hence he may not be ready for the practice match to be held on 01st June.
BCCI’s Answer
A BCCI official told the newspaper, “Kohli had already told us that he will join the team late and hence BCCI has postponed his visa date. It is expected that he will be in New York on the morning of May 30.” BCCI has agreed to his request.”
T20 World Cup Overview
The T20 World Cup will be played from June 2 to June 29, jointly hosted by America and West Indies. The Indian cricket team, which has left for New York, will begin its campaign against Ireland on June 5. This match will be played at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After this, India will face arch-rival Pakistan on June 9. It will also face co-hosts USA (June 12) and Canada (June 15) in Group A matches.
Despite the absence of Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team has the potential to take on its opponents and excel in the T20 World Cup. The team will have to rely on its collective effort and talent and execute its plan with precision. Indian cricket fans will support their players with full hope and enthusiasm and wish the team a successful performance.
