With this appointment, Gambhir has ushered in a new era in India’s coaching setup, which is filled with expectations that he will take the team to new heights with “perseverance and leadership”.

After Rahul Dravid’s unparalleled coaching success, Gambhir’s appointment is a big step that will see a profound change in Team India’s coaching staff.

According to a report in RevSportz, the idea behind Gambhir’s coming on board is to have the former opener join his coaching staff, which includes Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Apart from this, Gambhir has also recommended R Vinay Kumar’s name to the BCCI as bowling coach.

Gambhir’s coaching assignment will begin with India’s tour of Sri Lanka starting on July 27. He expressed his excitement about his new role and said, “It is an honour for me to serve my flag, my people and my country. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rahul Dravid and his support staff for their outstanding performance.”

BCCI President Roger Binny lauded the appointment and said, “We hope that under Gambhir’s leadership, Team India will continue to excel and be able to make the country proud.”

With Gambhir’s appointment, there will be a new trend in many aspects of the Indian cricket team and he is expected to lead the team to excellence in the upcoming World Cups and other important tournaments.
