Dinesh Karthik, a major name in the journey of Indian cricket, has bid farewell to the Indian Premier League (IPL). The reason for this was his team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which was eliminated from the IPL on Wednesday. RCB’s defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the eliminator match was Karthik’s last T20 match, after which he took the final decision that he will not continue.
In this IPL season, special respect and honor was shown against Karthik. He was also given a guard of honor after his exit from the tournament. Earlier he shared a video in which he talked to his wife Deepika Pallikal.
Kohli’s memorable moments with Dinesh Karthik
The video shared by RCB starts with an interview Virat Kohli had with Karthik in 2009.
Kohli said about this, “The first time I met DK, I remember we were playing in South Africa, if I am not mistaken, in the 2009 Champions Trophy. It was the first time I met Dinesh during the change-up. Shared a room and I found him to be a very entertaining, hyper-active, confused person most of the time, never stopping. That was my first impression of Dinesh.”
Kohli said, “I have had very good and interesting conversations with him off the field. He is an intelligent person, he has good knowledge of many things, not just cricket. I have thoroughly enjoyed the conversation with him. Even Even in that phase of 2022 when I was not having a good IPL season, I was really struggling for confidence, he sat me down a couple of times and explained to me very honestly how he was seeing things and “Maybe I can’t see them myself.”
Kohli further said, “So, I like his honesty and courage to go and talk about his feelings to anyone. And I think that’s the most special thing about Dinesh to me and that’s the one thing that should be appreciated.” I have always cherished it, that’s why we get along so well.
In the video, Deepika Pallikal also cried while sharing some memorable moments of the player’s career, she said that now Karthik is saying goodbye to the game and now he will spend more time with his family. Deepika, who is also a professional squash player, congratulated him on this new journey.
Thus, this great player of Indian cricket ended a memorable chapter of his career. May this new life be full of challenges and struggles, and may they be wished success in their future.
