Indian cricket’s great leader Virat Kohli recently had a close conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he spoke openly about the deterioration of his game.
Virat Kohli admitted that his form had declined during the T20 World Cup 2024 and there was no scope for good performance in his game.
He also said that ego had ruined his game. When he thought he could perform well for his team, it was actually ego that was becoming his parent. Despite this, Virat showed in the final that there is no shortage of his abilities. He played a crucial 76-run innings in the final against Barbados, which proved helpful in making India victorious.
Talking about his performance, Virat Kohli said,
“Whatever I was trying, it was not succeeding. Whenever you think ‘I can do this’, it is just the ego speaking. Basically, if your ego comes up, the game goes away from you. Sometimes, it is important to let go of that ego. There was no scope for ego in the final, especially when everything happened the way it happened. As soon as I started respecting the game, it benefited the team. It was a big learning for me.”
At the end of his career, Virat told that he is vacating his place for the next generation.
He said, “I am happy that I contributed in this important match for the team. Now it is time to face bigger challenges ahead and I can say with full hope that the new generation will prove to be a strong pillar for Indian cricket.”
This conversation has helped give a deeper perspective into the character of Virat Kohli and his struggles in his sports life, which can be a source of inspiration for his fans and Indian cricket lovers.
