This news came on 14 September 2025, when Ganguly filed his nomination and was elected unopposed as there was no other candidate.
His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly, who was in this position since 2019, has now retired as per the rules.
Ganguly said on this occasion,
“I would like to thank everyone for their support. At CAB, there is no opposition, everyone is a part of this Association. We will all work together to take CAB & Bengal cricket ahead.”
He further said, “There are important events coming up at – Eden Gardens – India’s Test match against South Africa, T20 World Cup, Bengal Pro T20 League. I will try and do my best.”
Meaning, he is planning to make the upcoming matches at Eden Gardens even stronger.
Now talking about the team, along with Ganguly, a suitable panel was also selected. It includes Nitish Ranjan Dutta as Vice President, Sanjay Das as Treasurer, Bablu Koley as Secretary and Madan Mohan Ghosh as Joint Secretary.
Ganguly praised his team
“Bablu Koley is very experienced. It’s important to have someone with his experience and knowledge. Nitish Ranjan Dutta, Madan Mohan Ghosh and Sanjay Das are also experienced and have been in this field for a long time. All their experience will be immensely helpful for Bengal cricket.”
It seems certain that these people will take Bengal cricket to new heights!
But the real deal is BCCI. There are strong rumours of Ganguly’s name being the candidate for the post of BCCI President after Roger Binny’s age limit.
BCCI’s AGM is scheduled for September 26, and CAB has made Ganguly its representative.
When journalists asked if he could become BCCI chairman, Ganguly clearly said, “Don’t assume anything.”
Ganguly’s return can prove to be a game-changer for Bengal cricket. Earlier he was the CAB head from 2015-2019, then became BCCI President.
