Now, news has emerged that long-time fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has also been shown the door by the franchise.
According to a September 27 report by Sportstar, Yagnik had been with the team since 2018. The team is now formulating a new strategy, but these changes are surprising to fans.
Dravid and McCrum’s departures cause a stir
RR’s precarious performance in IPL 2025. With just four wins in 14 matches, they languished at ninth place in the points table.
Rahul Dravid, who became head coach in 2024 after leading the team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, has left just a year later.
The franchise tried to offer him a major strategic role, but Dravid declined. Then, Jake Lush McCrum, who had been with the team since 2017 and became CEO in 2021, also left the franchise.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson demanded his release due to indiscipline, further heating up the situation. Now, there are reports that Kumar Sangakkara may become head coach.
Samson eyes Asia Cup 2025 Final
A recent report from Sportstar states that Dishant Yagnik, who was the fielding coach since 2018, is no longer part of RR. He has coached many Indian and foreign players, but will now focus on the Jammu and Kashmir domestic team.
On the other hand, batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Shane Bond will remain in place. Sanju Samson is keeping wickets and batting in the middle order for India in the Asia Cup 2025.
