He has been out of action since suffering an injury in the Test series against England. However, the good news is that his recovery is underway.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, Pant may get a chance to return to the series against South Africa.
The series, which begins on November 14th, consists of two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. The BCCI medical staff says it will take at least three to four weeks for him to return to competitive cricket.
Pant fractured his right foot while playing a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes in the fourth Test against England. He lost the chance to be part of India’s impressive victory in the Oval Test. He also missed the Asia Cup 2025, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
On September 15th, he reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence and began rehab. He is training wearing a walking boot.
By now, the boot will have been removed, and he will be gradually practicing putting weight on his leg.
Who will take responsibility in Pant’s absence?
Right now, Pant will be out of the Test series against the West Indies, which begins in Ahmedabad on October 2nd.
This is India’s home series, so it would have been a chance for him to return in front of fans. However, considering his recovery, that would have been risky.
After this, the trip to Australia also seems difficult, starting with the ODI and T20 series on October 19th.
In such a situation, Dhruv Jurel could get a chance. He was Pant’s substitute in the England series and scored a century against Australia A. Jurel’s attacking style is similar to Pant’s, so he seems like the perfect choice.
Players like Sarfaraz Khan and Narayan Jagadeeswan could also be included in the lineup, but Jurel is the best wicketkeeper.
When will Rishabh Pant return?
Pant’s strengths lie in his style, his courageous batting and quick reflexes. However, his recovery from injury must be proper.
For now, we’ll have to wait a little longer, but he’s expected to make a strong comeback in the South Africa series. This series is a major domestic tour of 2025-26, so Pant’s presence will strengthen the team.
