The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has threatened the Indian cricket team for not participating in the Champions Trophy 2025, which could lead to their exclusion from the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The reason for this is that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed a negative stance against Pakistan’s tour.
Pakistan has announced the decision that the Champions Trophy 2025 will be held on its own territory for all matches, and any hybrid model has been ruled out.
In this controversy, Indian media has reported that the BCCI is reluctant to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the specific tournament to be held next year.
This decision reflects the growing tension between Pakistan’s cricketing relations with India.
Even India has refused to tour Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, citing political and security issues.
The ICC faces the challenge of striking a balance in this matter, as it has to protect the interests of both cricketing nations.
The PCB has openly indicated opposition to any hybrid model during the ICC’s annual conference to be held in Colombo.
The cricketing relationship between India and Pakistan has been marred by political and security issues for years. India had suspended cricket bilateral series with Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, leading to a lack of continuous dialogue between the two countries.
Currently, the Khilafat issue has again cropped up between the PCB and the BCCI, giving cricket lovers hope for a resolution to the dispute between the Khilafat.
The next move of the ICC will make it clear which direction the organization will take for the upcoming tournaments.
