Mumbai Indians Defeated Punjab Kings to secure their Third Win of the Season

In the 33rd contest of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious by defeating Punjab Kings by 9 runs. In the first innings, MI scored 192/7 at the end of 20 overs and while chasing the given total, PBKS got all-out at the score of 183 runs on the first delivery of the final over of the innings. With this win, MI clinched their third triumph of the season and now the side will aim to maintain the same momentum in the upcoming clashes too.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Impressive Knock of 78 runs 

Ishan Kishan got dismissed while facing Kagiso Rabada in the third over of the innings while Rohit Sharma played an innings of 36 runs in 25 deliveries at a strike rate of 144.00 with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes. Suryakumar Yadav played a magnificent knock of 78 runs in just 53 deliveries at a strike rate of 147.17 including 7 fours and 3 impressive sixes. The performance of Tilak Varma was also impressive with the bat as he scored 34 runs in just 18 deliveries at an outstanding strike rate of 188.89 including 4 boundaries.

From the bowling department of Punjab Kings, Harshal Patel picked up the highest 3 wickets by giving 31 runs in 4 overs while Sam Curran took 2 wickets at the expense of 41 runs in 4 overs at an economy of 10.25. Kagiso Rabada picked up the wicket of Ishan Kishan and spent 42 runs in 4 overs at an economy of 10.50.

Ashutosh Sharma Kept PBKS’ Hopes Alive

The top order of the Punjab Kings could not contribute much for the side, as the team had lost 4 wickets at the score of just 14 runs in 2.1 overs. Harpreet Singh Bhatia scored 13 runs in 15 deliveries while Shashank Singh played a very crucial knock of 41 runs in 25 deliveries to balance the innings.  

Ashutosh Sharma played a magnificent knock of 61 runs in just 28 deliveries at a strike rate of 217.86 which includes 2 fours and 7 sixes and kept the hopes of PBKS alive. Harprit Brar also scored 21 runs in 20 deliveries but could not lead the side to the victory. From the bowling unit of the Mumbai Indians, Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3-3 wickets at an economy of 8.00 and 5.25 respectively while Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Gopal and Madhwal also took 1-1 wicket.
