Pakistani batsman Azam Khan is often in the headlines these days for his fitness, he played some good innings at the beginning of his career and people thought that this player would do something amazing.
However, his performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup was very poor. He played only one match and didn’t score a single run. As a result, he was dropped from the team.
After the World Cup, Azam Khan went to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). People were hoping that maybe he would go there and get his form back. But he didn’t go there. He played three matches and failed to score even a single run. Hearing this, everyone is stunned.
After this performance, people are also raising questions about Azam Khan’s fitness. Because it is very important to be fit to perform well in cricket. But in this case, it seems to be a little behind.
His father’s comment on Azam Khan
Azam Khan’s father Moin Khan was also a wicketkeeper-batsman of the Pakistan team at one time. He blamed former PCB chief Ramiz Raja for his son’s poor performance.
“In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Azam was selected in the team, but Rameez Raja left him out. If the selector had made a wrong choice, he should have been removed. But they did not have the courage and this broke the morale of a young player.”
He also said that Azam was not treated well in this year’s World Cup. He was dropped from the team after a poor performance in just one match, which according to him was not right.
But Moin Khan also believes that all the fault is not of others. “I am not saying that the entire blame is on the team management and the captain. It also has its drawbacks. They need to strengthen themselves physically and mentally, follow a fitness routine like other players. Over the past month, I have seen him working hard with his trainer Shahzar Mohammad to improve his fitness, even taking him to the Caribbean League.”
Azam Khan’s fitness
The good news is that Azam is now working on his fitness. For the last one month, he has been working hard with his trainer Shahzar Mohammad. Even in the CPL, he has taken his trainer along. It seems that they are trying to overcome their shortcomings.
Azam Khan is now 26 years old. They still have a lot of time to prove themselves. If he focuses on his fitness and game, he can get his place back soon.
Cricket fans are hoping that Azam will soon regain his form and win big matches for the Pakistan team. But for this they have to work hard and overcome their shortcomings.
