Anil Chaudhary, who has officiated in more than 50 international matches so far, commented on Mohammad Rizwan’s habit of repeatedly appealing in the YouTube podcast ‘2 Sloggers’ on Saturday.
“Rizwan keeps jumping like a pigeon from behind the stumps and shouting at every ball, which is very uncomfortable.
“I had also advised my fellow umpire to be cautious of Rizwan’s excessive appeals. He keeps shouting at every ball and his actions affect the game. Doesn’t he wear anything like lipstick? The truth is that a good umpire knows who is a good keeper. If the umpire is good, these keepers lose. The technology has evolved so much, yet if such situations arise, it shows the inability of the umpire.”
After this statement, both Rizwan’s fans and critics are voicing their opinions on this issue. However, amidst this controversy, Rizwan has performed brilliantly recently.
He featured in Pakistan’s first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, where he scored an unbeaten 171 in the first innings. Rizwan’s century helped Pakistan declare their first innings at 448-6.
Bangladesh scored 565 in their second innings, taking a 117-run first innings lead. Bangladesh rode on Mushfiqur Rahim’s 191, Shadman Islam’s 93, and fifties from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Liton Das and Mominul Haque to win the fourth Test.
Thus, both Mohammad Rizwan’s game and his appeal habits have been a topic of discussion in the cricketing world.
