KKR Defeated RCB in a Nail-biting Contest by just 1 run

RCB faced their 6th consecutive loss in the season while playing against KKR in the 36th contest of the tournament at the Eden Gardens. RCB invited KKR to bat first and the host scored a challenging total of 222/6 at the end of 20 overs.

While chasing the given total, RCB scored 221 runs and lost the contest by a margin of just 1 run. KRR secured their 5th win of the season in 7 matches and are now placed at the second spot in the table followed by SRH at 3rd and then CSK at the 4th spot.

Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer’s Impressive knocks

Phil Salt scored 48 runs in just 14 deliveries at a strike rate of 342.86 including 7 fours and 3 sixes while Sunil Narine scored 10 runs in 15 deliveries. Both the openers provided the side with a strong start and made a partnership of 56 runs for the first wicket in 4.2 overs. Raghuvanshi and Venkatesh Iyer could not do much for the side and scored 3 and 16 runs respectively. 

Shreyas Iyer played a magnificent knock of 50 runs in 36 deliveries at a strike rate of 138.89 with the help of 8 boundaries while Rinku Singh scored 24 runs in 16 deliveries. In the end, Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh scored 27 and 24 runs while facing 20 and 9 deliveries respectively.

Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar brought RCB back into the game

Both the openers of the side, Virat Kohli and du Plessis were returned to the pavilion when the total score of the side was 35 runs in 3.1 overs. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar made a huge partnership of 102 runs and helped RCB get back in the game. Jacks scored 55 runs in 32 deliveries while Patidar played an impressive innings of 52 runs in 23 deliveries at a strike rate of 226.09.

Dinesh Karthik and Karn Sharma also scored 25 and 20 runs respectively but could not lead the side to the victory. Andre Russell picked up 3 wickets at the expense of 25 runs in 3 overs while Sunil Narine took 2 wickets by giving 34 runs in 4 overs.
