This dashing left-arm wrist spinner of India has not got a chance in the series so far, and his coach Kapil Dev Pandey is very angry about this.
He says that not playing Kuldeep is proving to be costly for India.
What is the whole matter?
Kuldeep has been in great form for some time now. His bowling won everyone’s heart in the ODI World Cup. Still, he remained on the bench in the first three Tests against England.
Defeat at Lord’s, a spectacular win at Edgbaston, and again defeat at Headingley, India’s bowling attack is now under pressure.
Kapil Dev Pandey believes that the next Test to be held at Old Trafford in Manchester could be a perfect opportunity for Kuldeep, as the pitch there helps spinners.
Pandey said, “Kuldeep is currently in the top form of his career. There is magic in his bowling that can trouble batsmen. But expecting him to score 100 runs is foolish. He is a bowler, not a batsman!”
Pandey’s indication is clear that the team management has to understand Kuldeep’s strength. Spinners get an advantage on the Manchester pitch, especially in the last days of the match.
In such a situation, Kuldeep’s variety can give India control in the middle overs, which has been weak so far in this series.
Pandey also told that Kuldeep is fully fit and ready.
“I spoke to him recently. He is focused and is waiting for the opportunity. Yes, he is a human being, questions must arise in the mind as to when he will get a chance. But he is ready and can do wonders in Manchester.”
Kuldeep made his Test debut in 2017, but has played only 13 Tests so far. Still, whenever he got a chance, he left his mark.
There are only two Tests left in the series and India has to make a comeback. There is a growing demand from fans and experts that Kuldeep should be included in the playing eleven.
