Since incurring an injury during the One-Day International World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, Hardik has been unable to participate in any of the matches. Since India was defeated by Australia in the championship match, the all-rounder was unable to participate in the remaining matches of the tournament.

Immediately prior to the auction for the Indian Premier League 2024, Hardik was transferred from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians. In addition to this, the all-rounder would eventually be introduced as the new captain of the five-time Indian Premier League champions, taking over for Rohit Sharma.

Over the past several weeks, Hardik has been making significant progress in his recovery from an injury. The all-rounder has been keeping his supporters updated with videos that he has released on social media. Now that he has recovered from his injury, Hardik is back in the thick of things regarding the DY Patil competition.

In their encounter against BPCL, the all-rounder is now leading Reliance 1 in the contest. Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Akash Madhwal, and Piyush Chawla are some of the other players that are included in the Reliance 1 squad. Hardik will be the coach of all of these players for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League 2024.

A number of notable players, including Sandeep Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Anukul Roy, and Ramandeep Singh, are members of the BPCL team. The fact that Hardik was also observed bowling throughout the match indicates that the all-rounder appears to be getting himself ready for the Indian Premier League as well as the Twenty20 World Cup that will take place in 2024.

As a result of his decision to withdraw from the South Africa tour, Ishan Kishan has been absent from the Indian team. He will also be using the Dy Patil Twenty20 event as a means to get back into action, as he will be lining up for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the tournament.
