Chennai Super Kings and the Lucknow Super Giants will face each other in the 39th contest of the tournament this Tuesday in Chennai. Both sides faced each other in their most recent contest a few days ago in Lucknow in which LSG emerged victorious one-sidedly and the performance of CSK was not up to the mark.
CSK scored 176/6 in the first innings and LSG comfortably chased down the total in just 19 overs to secure their fourth triumph of the season.
Rahane and Ravindra’s form will be crucial for the side
In the previous encounter, Ajinkya Rahane played an innings of 36 runs in 24 deliveries at a strike rate of 150.00 while Rachin Ravindra got dismissed at the very delivery of his innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad also could not contribute much for the side while Jadeja stayed on the crease till the end and played an impressive innings of 57 runs in 40 deliveries. However, the low run rate of CSK did not help the side cross a total of 180 runs and eventually, LSG secured a dominant victory in the contest.
The form of Rahane, Ravindra and Gaikwad from the top order will be very crucial for the side in the upcoming encounter as it will build a foundation for a large total. Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube will also have a big responsibility on their shoulders to balance the innings in the middle overs and make runs at a good run rate. Dhoni’s form has been magnificent in the ongoing season as he has been consistently hitting runs for the side in the death overs.
Rahman and Pathirana’ Spells will be Game-changing
Chennai Super Kings is not known for creating large totals, instead, the bowling department of the side makes CSK strong. Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman will have a key responsibility on their shoulders in the upcoming game as they are the key bowlers from the CSK side. Ravindra Jadeja could not pick any wicket in the previous game while Deepak Chahar also failed to clinch any breakthrough for the side.
CSK is currently placed at the fourth spot in the table with 4 wins in 7 matches while LSG is placed just 1 place below CSK with the same number of wins, but the run rate of CSK is quite better than LSG. In the upcoming contest, both sides will try their best to clinch a victory to improve their standings in the points table.
