Royal Challengers Bangalore secured victory in only 1 contest out of the 8 they played in the season and currently, the side is placed at the bottom-most position of the points table with just 2 points in their hand.
The performance of the side has been very poor in the tournament, especially since the bowling unit of the side could not contribute much for RCB and eventually, they kept losing the games. In the most recent contest against KKR, RCB’s hard luck did not favour them in clinching their 2nd win even after Karn Sharma hit 3 sixes in the final over.
Is there any chance for RCB to Qualify for the Playoffs
RCB has played 8 matches in the season and still, there are 6 league-stage contests remaining for the side. Considering the best case, if the side secures victory in all the contests then RCB will have 14 points at the end of the league-stage contests. But the addition of two more sides in the IPL does not favour a side to qualify for the top-4 with 14 points. A minimum of 16 points is generally required to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
Hence it is very highly unlikely that RCB will make it to the playoffs, but mathematically the side still has the chance to qualify for the playoffs though not practically that feasible. Even if there is a one per cent chance of qualifying for the playoff, then RCB can not afford to lose even a single game from now and they have to be very consistent with their performance through both the batting and the bowling ends.
RCB will face SRH on April 25
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will play against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25. Both sides have already faced each other in the current season on last Monday when SRH scored the highest total of the IPL. SRH made an enormous score of 287/3 at the end of 20 overs and RCB scored 262/7 at the end of the innings and still lost the contest by 25 runs.
The performance of SRH was exceptionally well with the bat and the side has crossed the 250+ run for three times in the ongoing season. Therefore facing SRH in the upcoming game is not going to be easy for the RCB, however, the side will try to give their best in the upcoming contest as they don’t have much to lose in the upcoming stages of the tournament.
