The whole country is excited with the pomp and show of the grand finale of IPL, but a recent incident in this celebration has shaken everyone. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken a historic decision, banning posting of pictures or videos from the stadium on social media.
Supporting the move, BCCI has given clear instructions to all commentators, players, IPL owners and teams that no pictures or videos from the stadium on the match day will be shared on social media. If this is not followed, fine may also be imposed.
This decision is a testament to his determination and his ideals towards BCCI. They are ensuring that the significance of the festival and the national joy as well as the prestige of the IPL ideals are maintained.
The reason behind this decision is that some commentary teams and players had shared pictures and videos from the stadium on social media, which was contracted.
As stated by the Indian Express, “Broadcasters have paid huge sums for the IPL rights. So commentators cannot post match day videos or pictures on social media. There have been instances where commentators have done ‘Instagram Live’ or gone live on the grounds. A video got one million views. Even IPL teams cannot post videos of live games and give live match updates on their social media platforms. If found guilty, the franchisee will be fined.”
It is clear from this decision that BCCI has taken care of its honor to preserve the ideals of IPL. They are ensuring that the match atmosphere reflects excitement and enjoyment of the game as well as ethics and excellence.
Apart from this, BCCI officials had directed to remove some players who posted pictures on the match day. They were also asked to be careful with social media posts. The posts of the players are being monitored and they have been informed about the rules.
According to reports, an IPL team was fined Rs 9 lakh as they shared a video clip of a live game. The Board has appointed designated staff members who will closely monitor the IPL production and monitor the posts.
Along with the celebration of IPL, we should support the excellence of the game, with its ethics and ideals being followed. Following the instructions of BCCI, we all will enjoy this celebration together and enhance its dignity.
