Indian cricket star player and former captain Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from T20 International, but he also made it clear that he will still continue to captain in ODIs and Test matches. Rohit recently spoke openly about his sports future in an interview.
Rohit Sharma led India to the T20 World Cup 2024 title last month, just hours after which he decided to retire from the game. He has scored 4231 runs in 159 T20 matches in his career, including five centuries.
After winning the T20 World Cup, he said, “I just said it. I don’t go that far. So clearly, you will see me playing for some time.”
Along with this, Rohit Sharma also shared an emotional farewell post for Rahul Dravid. He said, “Dear Rahul bhai, I am trying to find the right words to express my feelings properly on this but I am not sure I will ever be able to do so, so this is my attempt.”
Rohit acknowledged the time he spent working with Dravid, saying, “I have learnt so much from you and will cherish every memory.”
Rohit Sharma posted an emotional post on Dravid’s retirement
“Since childhood I have idolised you like billions of others but I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work so closely with you. You are a legend of the game but you left all your achievements and accolades at the door and came to us as our coach and came to such a level that we all felt comfortable saying anything to you.
This is a gift from you, your humility and your love for the game even after all this time. I have learnt so much from you and will cherish every memory. My wife calls you my work wife and I am fortunate to call you that too.”
Now after the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Indian cricket, a new young captain will be selected, who will face the new leadership in T20 international matches. However, Rohit Sharma has decided to pursue this chapter of his career in other sports as well.
