But Shami broke his silence on these rumors and gave such a reply that everyone was shocked, he clearly said that he will take the decision of retirement himself, when he gets bored of cricket.

Shami’s strong reply
In an interview given to News 24’s Manak Gupta, Shami spoke openly about his fitness and retirement.
He said, “If I am playing in Duleep Trophy – I was ready for Asia Cup also.”
That is, if he could play Duleep Trophy, then he was fully ready for Asia Cup also. But the selectors did not give him a chance and chose Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh as fast bowlers.
Shami took his critics to task over the retirement rumours.
He said sharply, “If someone has a problem, tell me, if it is like their lives become better if I take retirement.tp retirement. Tell me whose life have I become a rock in that you want me to retire? The day I get bored, I will leave. You don’t pick me, but I will keep working hard. You don’t pick me in international, I will play domestic. I will keep playing somewhere or the other.”
That is, Shami made it clear that he will keep playing till he gets bored.
Dream of ODI World Cup
This 34-year-old fast bowler also shared his heart’s talk. He told that his only dream now is to win the ODI World Cup.
Shami said, “I only have one dream left, that is to win the ODI World Cup. I want to be a part of that team and perform that wins the ODI World Cup and brings it home. We were very close in 2023.”
India lost in the final of the 2023 World Cup, and Shami’s dream remained unfulfilled.
Fitness improved, return to Duleep Trophy
Shami also gave an update on his fitness. He told that now he is fully fit and is ready to make a splash in Duleep Trophy 2025.
Shami said, “Everything is fine now. In the last two months, I trained, improved skills, lost weight and increased strength.”
Filhaal he will play for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy starting on August 28.
