Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Return to Domestic Cricket in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Two of Indian cricket’s biggest stars, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, are set to return to domestic cricket. Both have been included in their respective teams for the initial matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The BCCI had clearly stated that playing domestic ODIs is necessary for inclusion in the ODI team, and now both are ready.

Confirmation of Rohit and Virat’s Inclusion in Teams

Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Dr. Unmesh Khanvilkar confirmed that Rohit Sharma has confirmed his availability for the first two matches.

“He informed us that he will be available to play the first two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches and he will be joining the Mumbai team on December 23 in Jaipur. As far as Jaiswal is concerned, he needs some more rest and he has told us that whenever he is fit, he will inform MCA,” Khanvilkar said.

From Delhi’s side, President Rohan Jaitley confirmed Virat Kohli’s participation. “Virat, Rishabh, Ishant and Navdeep have confirmed their availability for the first two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and have been included in the squad. However, what happens with senior players is that we don’t know which match they will play. That is why we need back-ups too in the squad. Hence we have picked 21 players,”

Delhi and District Cricket Association president Rohan Jaitley said. “Harshit has said as he is playing in the T20 series and he will be available for selection when possible,” Jaitley added.

The Mumbai team is being captained by Shardul Thakur and also includes players like Sarfaraz Khan. Rohit will play against Sikkim on December 24 and against Uttarakhand on December 26 in Jaipur.

Big Names in Delhi and Mumbai Squads

The Delhi team is captained by Rishabh Pant, with Ayush Badoni as vice-captain. Besides Virat, the team includes fast bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini, and Harshit Rana. Delhi will face Andhra and Gujarat in Bengaluru.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will not be available for Mumbai in the initial matches as he is recovering from a stomach ailment. Both star players have retired from T20 and Test cricket and now only play ODIs. They want to stay fit with an eye on the 2027 World Cup.

The Mumbai squad includes young players like Musheer Khan and Angkrish Raghuvanshi alongside Rohit Sharma. In Delhi, players like Yash Dhull and Priyansh Arya will get the opportunity to learn from Virat Kohli.

The tournament starts on December 24th, and fans will get to enjoy watching these big stars bat.
