Too many runs while bowling at a slow pace. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) performed admirably in all aspects of their match against the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Wednesday at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Ponting said at the post-match press conference: “I was almost ashamed of our first half today – to concede so many runs.” It also took us two hours to complete our overs, so there were two of us. Again, the boys bowling the final two overs are limited to four fielders outside the circle.

“There were many unacceptable things that happened in this match; we need to fix them right away if we want to continue in this tournament,” the former Australian captain added.

Ponting said: “They got off to a flying start in the powerplay. After six overs they were around 90 runs. That phase is not ideal; if that happens at the start of the match, you always try to find your way back into the match.” and they wouldn’t let us today. They were ruthless. We have to be very critical of ourselves,”

DC captain Pant scored back-to-back half-centuries during the match, but he also summoned a physio while batting. Ponting claimed it could have just been fatigue and that he was moving well while batting.

DC head coach said: “I saw him call a physio. It could have just been a bit of fatigue. It looked like he was moving quite well when he batted. I think we just have to concentrate on the way he batted tonight. I don’t have him see you stumbling.” all after he called the physio. I saw him stretch a little bit, so there might be a little bit of cramping,”

However, the coach stated that he was pleased with Pant’s batting and that an attacking situation would help him regain his confidence.

Ponting said: “Happy for him, what he did with the bat. A situation like this, where he had to attack from the start, is probably a scenario he needed to get some confidence back. He’s actually had two good games with the bat now, which is great,”

Ponting commented on skipper Rishabh missing a DRS against Sunil Narine during the KKR’s batting

“Narine was missed, and then Shreyas Iyer was missed. I am not sure what happened there. “Rishabh obviously did not hear them.” Bowlers on the ground did hear something on both occasions,”
