IPL founder Lalit Modi has made a big statement about this, which has created a stir in the cricket world.

Lalit Modi recently said in a conversation with Michael Clarke in Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast
During this, he gave his opinion on the rumors of RCB’s sale. Modi says that RCB’s fan base is so tremendous that it would be foolish to sell it for less than 2 billion dollars.
“If RCB does want to sell, they would be stupid to sell it for less than 2 billion dollars. If it is next year, then 2.5 billion and if two years later, it would be 3 billion, and if it is four years later, then four billion dollars. Take it in writing from me.”
That is, if RCB is to be sold, then it should not be less than $ 2 billion, and its value will increase further in the coming years.
RCB’s Golden Time
RCB won the IPL title for the first time in 2025 under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. The team finished second in the league stage by winning 9 out of 14 matches. In the final, it defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and ended the 18-year title drought.
The presence of superstars like Virat Kohli and bowlers like Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took RCB’s brand value to the skies.
But after the victory, the death of 11 people in a stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the victory parade in Bengaluru cast a shadow on the happiness.
Why is RCB being sold?
According to reports, RCB owner United Spirits Limited (via Diageo) is considering selling it fully or partially.
Diageo is facing financial challenges in the US, and with RCB’s value rising after the title win, it is believed to be the right time to sell.
If the deal goes through for $2 billion (approximately Rs 16,834 crore), it will be the biggest deal in IPL history.
