Rajasthan Royals Secured Fifth Victory of the Season, Defeated Punjab Kings by 3 wickets

Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious in the 27th contest of the IPL by defeating Punjab Kings by 3 wickets with just 1 ball remaining. After winning the toss, Sanju Samson invited Punjab Kings to bat first and PBKS made a total of 147/8 at the end of 20 overs. On a good bowling pitch, the Royals’ bowlers restricted the side to a total of less than 150 but the performance of the bowling department of PBKS was also quite impressive as they gave a tough fight to the Royals in the game.

Yashsvi Jaiswal played a crucial knock of 39 runs

The performance of Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been good in the recent matches of the season but he became the highest run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals in the contest against PBKS. He played an innings of 39 runs in just 28 deliveries at a strike rate of 139.29 including 4 boundaries and made a partnership of 56 runs with Tanush Kotian for the first wicket in 8.2 overs. RR lost their second wicket at the score of 82 runs and Sanju Samson was returned to the pavilion at the score of 89 runs. 

The contest was getting more exciting as there were only a few overs left and half of the side was returned to the pavilion in 17.2 overs at a score of just 115 runs. Riyan Parag contributed 23 runs in 18 deliveries for the side at a strike rate of 127.78 which includes 2 boundaries.

Shimron Hetmyer Played a Match-Winning Knock

Shimron Hetmyer smashed 27 runs in just 10 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 270.00 with the help of 1 four and 3 sixes and snatched the game from the hands of the Punjab Kings. From the bowling department of the side, Avesh Khan and Keshav Maharaj picked up 2-2 wickets at the expense of 34 and 23 runs respectively while Trent Boult and Kuldeep Sen also took 1-1 wicket by giving 22 and 35 runs respectively.

From the bowling unit of the Punjab Kings, Kagiso Rabada and Sam Curran took 2-2 wickets by giving 18 runs and 25 runs respectively while Arshdeep Singh also clinched 1 wicket at an economy rate of 11.74. Liam Livingstone and Harshal Patel took 1-1 wickets at an economy of 7.00 and 10.50 respectively.
