He has decided to pull out of the domestic cricket Champions Cup, criticising the policies of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the steps taken by them.

Hamad Shahzad expressed his disappointment through an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter).

“With a very heavy heart, I have decided not to play in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. PCB’s bias, false promises and injustice towards domestic players is unacceptable. Shahzad slammed the PCB, alleging that the board was wasting its resources on “do-nothing consultants” and rewarding unsuccessful players who have brought Pakistan cricket to an “all-time low.”

His criticism directly hurts the PCB’s management. Shahzad said that when Pakistan is struggling with inflation, poverty and heavy electricity bills, the board is wasting a sum of Rs 5 million.

Criticising the PCB, he said that this board claims that they do not have “equipment for surgery,” which is a huge insult to the domestic players.

“As a Pakistani and a true cricket lover, I cannot support a system in which merit is of no importance. I refuse to be a part of this failed system.”

Ahmed Shehzad, through this post, expressed deep concern over the state of Pakistan cricket. He referred to Pakistan’s historic 10-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, which was Bangladesh’s first Test win over Pakistan on their own soil. Shahzad described the defeat as a “new low” for Pakistan cricket and expressed disbelief at the current state of the team.

“Pakistan cricket has reached a stage where today Bangladesh has beaten Pakistan for the first time on home soil. I have never seen Pakistan cricket stoop so low in my life.”

Shahzad also argued that the problem was not in the players, but in the PCB’s lack of foresight and poor selection policies. He suggested that the short-term decisions of the board have pushed the team towards the same downfall as Pakistan’s once-great hockey team.

“I don’t blame the players. The Pakistan Cricket Board is to blame.”
