The Indian cricket team has made a big and sensible decision ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Considering the recurring injury and fitness concerns, Team India has canceled its practice session in Delhi.

This decision was made on February 9th, ahead of their next match against Namibia.
India had a good start to the tournament with a 29-run victory against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 7th.
Now, India is scheduled to face Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on February 12th, but the team doesn’t want to take any risks before that.
Injury Concerns Force Team India to Be Careful
Team India has already suffered a major setback. Young fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2026. He sustained a right knee injury during the warm-up match against South Africa on February 4th. Mohammed Siraj has been included in the squad as his replacement.
In addition, Jasprit Bumrah also missed the first match against the USA due to illness, raising concerns about the fast bowling attack. However, the good news is that Washington Sundar has been declared fit and will soon join the team in Delhi.
Young batsman Tilak Varma has also returned after undergoing surgery in early January. With several players either recovering from injuries or returning to full fitness, the team management doesn’t want to put any unnecessary pressure on them.
India Cancel Practice Ahead of Namibia Match
To manage workload and avoid new injuries, India has decided not to practice before the Namibia match.
A journalist shared this information on X, writing, “Team India won’t have a practice session in Delhi tomorrow.”
Interestingly, while India canceled its practice, the Namibian team is training in Delhi.
India had a very poor start in the match against the USA. The team was reduced to 46/4 in the powerplay. But captain Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant innings under pressure. He scored an unbeaten 84 runs off 49 balls, guiding the team to a total of 161/9. In the bowling department, Mohammed Siraj played a crucial role, taking 3 wickets.
Following the victory, head coach Gautam Gambhir highly praised Suryakumar Yadav’s innings, calling it a match-winning performance under challenging circumstances.
