IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Shubman Gill Accused of Confusing Pant Before Crucial Dismissal

Rahul had scored 33 runs in his calm style, but everyone’s eyes were on Pant, who is famous for his carefree style. But this time a mistake by captain Shubman Gill put India in trouble.

How did Gill mislead Pant?

The story is that Pant had to be allowed to play his natural game. Former coach Ravi Shastri clearly said on Sky Sports,

“Leave Pant free, don’t give too much advice, otherwise he will get confused.”

Shastri said that Pant’s mind works like a computer. His centuries around the world and an average of 45 are proof that he knows what to do when.

But Shubman Gill ignored Shastri’s advice. Had long talks with Pant, due to which he could not play in his own color.

And then came that moment. England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer, who was making a comeback after injury, deceived Pant with a brilliant ball.

The ball pitched on the off-stump, slightly touched the bat and blew away the stumps.

Pant had hit two fours in the beginning, but Archer’s speed put him on the backfoot. As soon as the stumps flew, there was silence in the Indian camp.

India’s condition bad on the last day of Lord’s Test

England had scored only 192 runs in the second innings, and India felt that the small target would be chased easily. But Gill himself could not show wonders with the bat. He was out after scoring 16 runs in the first innings and just 6 runs in the second.

England’s bowlers took early wickets, and by the fourth day, India had lost 4 wickets. There was a flurry of wickets on the fifth day as well, and at the time of writing the news, India had lost 8 wickets for 124 runs. Ravindra Jadeja is now the last hope.

If India loses this match, Shubman Gill’s name will not be added to the list of Indian captains who defeated England at Lord’s.

Fans are now trolling Gill on social media, and questions are being raised whether his captaincy mistake took away Pant’s natural game?

Did Gill’s too much advice put India on the backfoot?
