Akash Deep became the hero of this match. For the first time, he did the feat of taking 5 wickets in a Test and then all 10 wickets.
England was given a huge target of 608 runs, but Akash broke the back of England by sending big players like Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith to the pavilion.
His figures of 6/99 surprised everyone. Superstar Akash showed that India’s bowling can do wonders even in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Gill’s bat spoke
Captain Shubman Gill created a stir with the bat. He gave a tough time to England bowlers by playing brilliant innings of 269 runs in the first innings and 161 runs in the second. Gill won the Player of the Match title by scoring 430 runs.
His and Rishabh Pant’s (65 runs) quick partnership took India to 427/6.
How did England’s condition become weak?
England had a bad start. Akash and Mohammad Siraj gave early blows. Ben Duckett, Joe Root and Jack Crowley were out early.
Jamie Smith tried to fight a bit by scoring 88 runs, but Akash did not spare him either. Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna also took one wicket each to wrap up England at 271.
