This happened when the Ranji Trophy match was going on in Meerut, Karnataka vs Uttar Pradesh. Dravid played a brilliant innings of 199 runs in that match.
That same night, he and RP Singh went to a friend’s house for dinner. India’s match was on TV, and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was batting.
Sachin was playing a brilliant innings, scoring runs on every ball, but still some people were saying,
“Sachin should play a little faster.”
Sachin was playing according to the situation of the match at that time, but the crowd wanted more speed.
Then Rahul Dravid told RP Singh,
“If they are saying so much to him, then how much would they have said to me?”
Dravid, who is known for his slow and solid batting, said this in his funny style. If the crowd was saying so much to a legend like Sachin, then Dravid would have been in a worse condition.
