Ex-Captain Michael Vaughan Warns India Before Big Semi-Final

The atmosphere has heated up ahead of the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has issued an open warning to Team India.

The match between India and England will be played on March 5th at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and Vaughan believes that England’s spinners will be dominant on this pitch.

Vaughan expresses great confidence in England’s spinners

Vaughan stated clearly, “England has a better spin attack than India. [Varun] Chakravarthy has been at it. Dawson, Rashid, and Will Jacks have been the best trio in the tournament in terms of spin. England’s fielding has been absolutely exceptional. They look really alert.”

He specifically named Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson, and Will Jacks. According to Vaughan, these three spinners are performing exceptionally well in this tournament.

Not only this, he also praised England’s fielding and running between the wickets. Vaughan said, “England’s run between wickets has been exceptional. The small percentage of things you can control yourself, England seems to be doing very well. I just have a funny feeling England can get the job done in Mumbai.”

On the other hand, Team India also has good spin options. Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel have taken 23 wickets together in T20Is against England. The match appears to be evenly matched, but Vaughan clearly favors England.

“They seem to have found a way of winning” – Vaughan

Vaughan also mentioned England’s victory against New Zealand in the Super 8s. He said, “They seem to have found a way of winning. The win against New Zealand, even though a dead rubber, to get over the line was a great effort.”

He believes that the England team has developed a habit of winning, no matter how difficult the match.

All eyes are now on the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where a ticket to the final between India and England will be at stake.

Both teams have strong batting and spin attacks, but who can handle the pitch and pressure better will be the real factor in this high-voltage contest.
