Chennai Super Kings defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 22nd contest of the IPL by 7 wickets. After winning the toss, CSK opted the bowl first and KKR could score only 137 runs in the first innings at the loss of 9 wickets. CSK comfortably chased down the given target in just 17.5 overs to clinch a victory by 7 wickets.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Impressive Knock of 63 runs

CSK lost their first wicket at the score of just 27 runs in 3.2 overs as Ravindra got dismissed by Vaibhav Arora. Gaikwad and Mitchell made a crucial partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket and helped the side reach a good and safe score of 97/2 in 12.3 overs. 

Shivam Dube also contributed 28 runs for the side in just 18 deliveries with the help of 4 boundaries while MS Dhoni also faced 3 deliveries and scored 1 run. Gaikwad stayed on the crease till the end and scored 67 runs in 58 deliveries with the help of 9 boundaries at a strike rate of 115.52 and also scored the winning runs for the side.

Shreyas Iyer scores the highest runs from KKR

Shreyas Iyer played an innings of 34 runs in 32 deliveries at a strike rate of 106.25 including 3 fours while Sunil Narine also scored 27 runs in 20 deliveries at a strike rate of 135.00. Angkrish Raghuvanshi also made 24 runs for the side in 18 deliveries with a strike rate of 133.33.

From the bowling unit of KKR, Vaibhav Arora picked up the highest two wickets by giving 28 runs in his spell of 4 overs while Sunil Narine also took 1 wicket at the expense of 30 runs in 4 overs at an economy rate of 7.50.

Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja’s Impressive Bowling Spell

Tushar Deshpande picked up 3 wickets for the side by giving 33 runs in 4 overs at an economy of 8.25 while Ravindra Jadeja also took the same number of wickets at the expense of just 18 runs in 4 overs with an excellent economy rate of 4.50. Mustafizur Rahman also picked up 2 wickets for the side and Maheesh Theekshana dismissed Ramandeep Singh to clinch his only wicket in the contest.
