And, this time the team will be led by stormy wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan.

Will Shami show his old magic?
Shami was last seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025. His performance there was not very special.
Only 6 wickets in 9 matches, that too with an average of 56.16 and an economy of 11.23. But Shami’s real magic is seen in Test cricket.
Now he is ready to prove his fitness and form in the Duleep Trophy.
Recently Shami could not make it to the Indian Test team for the England tour. The BCCI felt that he was not fully fit to handle the long workload of Test cricket.
But now in the Duleep Trophy, he is ready to spit fire with the ball, so that he can attract the attention of the selectors for the Asia Cup 2025.
Shami’s last first-class match was for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy in November 2024. Now in the Duleep Trophy, he is ready to trouble the batsmen with his speed and swing.
Thrill of Duleep Trophy
The Duleep Trophy will start from 28 August 2025, and the final will be held on 11 September.
The first match of the Eastern Zone will be against the Northern Zone, and Shami will be seen in action in it. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been made the vice-captain in the 15-member team.
Along with this, strong players like Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and Riyan Parag are also in the team.
However, Sudip Chatterjee did not get a chance this time. Young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been kept on standby, who is famous for his explosive batting.
Ishan Kishan’s captaincy
This is a big opportunity for Ishan Kishan. Under his captaincy, the East Zone team has a great combination of experience and enthusiasm.
Along with the fast bowling of Shami, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar, all-rounders like Riyan Parag make the team even stronger.
