Breaking: Injury Scare for Team India Ahead of IND vs NZ ODI Series

Just before the start of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand, worrying news has emerged for Team India.

During a practice session on Saturday, star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant suffered an injury in the nets, causing a moment of concern.

Team India was conducting its final preparations at the BCA Stadium in Baroda. While batting against the Indian throwdown specialists, a ball struck Rishabh Pant above his waist. Pant appeared to be in pain immediately after being hit, with the discomfort clearly visible on his face.

Injury during Net Practice, Staff Reacts Quickly

Following the incident, the team’s support staff rushed to Pant’s aid and began treatment. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was also present at the time. After initial treatment, Rishabh Pant left the field. The entire incident took place on Ground B.

After Pant’s departure, Indian captain Shubman Gill was seen having a long conversation with the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, further fueling speculation. However, no official medical update regarding Pant’s injury has been released yet.

Meanwhile, another interesting sight was witnessed during the same session. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj arrived early for batting practice in the nets, but struggled to connect properly with the ball while attempting big shots. Rohit Sharma, who was standing outside, also offered Siraj some batting tips.

Other Players Continue Preparations, Series Schedule Confirmed

In the practice session, vice-captain Shreyas Iyer batted alongside KL Rahul. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja also had a go in the nets. Shreyas Iyer recently captained Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where his team suffered a one-run defeat against Punjab.

Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohammed Siraj all recently played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for their respective state teams. Their last match was on January 8th.

The first ODI between India and New Zealand will be played in Baroda. The second ODI will be played on January 14 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, while the third and final match is scheduled for the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The New Zealand team has arrived in India with several new faces.
