After Ignored by Gambhir, Arshdeep Singh Bounces Back to Win Player of the Match

India performed brilliantly in the third T20I against Australia today. Our team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, won by 5 wickets.

But the real hero was Punjab’s left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh. The 26-year-old wreaked havoc with the ball and won the Player of the Match award. His brilliance at the Bellerive Oval was a sight to behold.

Arshdeep dismissed Travis Head and Josh Inglis in his first two overs. He then dismissed Marcus Stoinis.

In the end, he took three wickets for 35 runs. This performance was remarkable, considering he didn’t get a chance in the first two matches.

A slap to those who benched Arshdeep

Arshdeep would have been a part of any team in the world, but our team management ignored him. Under Gautam Gambhir’s coaching, he was not included in the main matches of the Asia Cup 2025.

Then, Harshit Rana was selected for the first two T20Is in Canberra and Melbourne. Fans were furious. But when he got a chance in the third match, Arshdeep showed why he’s the best. His bowling reduced Australia to 35 for 3.

After the match, Arshdeep spoke with Adam Gilchrist.

He said, “I’ve just been working on my process, trusting my skills, and executing the plans I’ve practiced. It feels great to contribute when I get the chance.”

Meaning, he was simply focusing on his practice. Then, when asked about aggressive batsmen, he said,

“Yes (enjoying bowling to aggressive batsmen), definitely. When someone is coming hard at you, there’s always a chance to pick up wickets.” What a cool style!

How did Bumrah support him?

Arshdeep also explained that having Jasprit Bumrah as his partner is beneficial.

He said, “And when someone like Bumrah is bowling from the other end, batters often take more risks against me, which gives me wicket-taking opportunities.”

That is, because of Bumrah, batsmen attack him, which results in wickets. He is enjoying everything from the new ball to the old ball.

He said, “I just try to enjoy my bowling and keep my plans simple. No matter the situation—powerplay or death—I just focus on execution and stick to what I’ve practiced.”

With this win, India takes a 2-1 lead in the series. Arshdeep’s performance is not only a reply to Gambhir, but will also cement his place in the upcoming matches. Fans have gone crazy on social media.
